We’re a few days late with this post as we just returned from a week-long vacation at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. I’m happy to be home and have tons of laundry and unpacking and photo organizing to catch up with.
While we were away, Bella turned 18 months old. Hard to believe she is already a year and a half old. How has it already been 6 months since her first birthday?
Here’s what’s new this month!
GROWTH: Bella had her 18 month doctor’s appointment and weighed 24 lbs 4 oz (74th percentile), was 30.5 inches tall (17th percentile), and her head circumference was 18.9 inches (91st percentile). While we’re still a little concerned about her weight to height ratio, her pediatrician said its nothing to worry about at this age. We’re also happy to see her height come up on the scale a bit, even if we’re pretty sure the nurse mismeasured by an inch or so.
TALKING: Language has continued to develop this month! “Bah bah” has a third meaning now. It also means book in addition to bye bye and ball (they all sound slightly different). We’ve also added “uh oh”, “woah”, “mah” (more), and “ooooh” (general sound for amazement. It seems like we’re now adding 1-2 words per week. This is when language is supposed to really pick up so we’ll see what happens in the next month.
SLEEP: No updates here. Sleep has continued to go really well. On vacation she slept the latest I think that she has ever slept…9:30 am!
FOOD: She continues to eat just about everything. Appetite hasn’t really decreased at all and she still loves pretty much everything she tries. Favorite food is still banana.
MOVEMENT: Walking speed is picking up. She is adept at walking backwards as well. Bella is also starting to climb! She found our kitchen step stool last week and carried it around the kitchen and then tried climbing up on it. The counters are no longer going to be a safe spot!
FAVORITES: Carrying everything. Helping with laundry. Grabbing us by the finger and taking us to see things. Climbing into your new outdoor chair and putting a drink in the drink holder. Trying to make lots of new sounds!
The 18 month milestone has come and gone and Bella is just as happy as ever. Hopefully it isn’t too hard going back to school tomorrow after a week away.
