I know. I need a full post recapping Halloween. But Bella is ten months today! So the Halloween recap will have to wait until tomorrow.
October was yet another month that kept us busy. In fact, Lance and I did not spend one weekend home together for the entire month! For Bella though, it was a month of learning and travel. She had a lot of new experiences, including her trips to San Francisco and Penn State, and got to spend time with most of her grandparents!
So how did things go during this month?
SLEEP: Right now, we are in a pretty consistent sleep routine. Still going to bed with no problem around 7 pm, and then waking around 6-6:30 am. I usually nurse her for around 10 minutes and then put her back down so that I can get a little more rest, and on a weekend, she’ll typically sleep until close to 8 am after that 6 am snack! We did have a rough week or two when she back-to-back cut two new teeth and got her first cold of the season, where she was waking around 3-4 am, but thankfully that has passed.
FOOD: We’ve really been trying to expand what Bella eats these days. As long as it is minimally processed or we’ve made it, we’ve been letting her give it a try (minus obvious avoidances like peanuts and honey). She is now eating pasta, waffles/pancakes, fish, chicken, and even got a small taste of pizza! Of course, she loves everything. I can’t remember the last food that we offered that she wouldn’t eat. We’re trying to give her more table foods and foods that she can feed herself, but she will still occasionally get pureed peas and sweet potato because its an easy way to get her some good veggies. I think in the next month though we will start eliminating her purees!
MOVEMENT: We still don’t have a crawler, but she seems to be getting much closer. She walks forward as far as she can with her hands, and now loves to go from laying on her stomach to sitting. On the changing table she will now try and get from her back to her stomach to sitting! I think all of this increased motion means that she’ll figure out a way to crawl forward this month. Her backwards scooting is getting pretty fast, and she seems to be getting a little frustrated that she ends up going backward when trying to get something she wants that is in front of her!
Oh, and if dance, counts as movement, Bella is now a dancing machine!
TEETH: Bella’s top middle teeth came in. So we are now at 6 cute (and painful for mommy) little teeth!
DEVELOPMENT: Bella had a big milestone last week when she started waving bye bye! When I leave her classroom at daycare and we say “bye” or “adios” she will wave her whole left arm. It’s really cute and I need to capture it on video!
SPEECH: She has now added “buh” sounds to her constant “dah” and “ahdah”. Still no m’s, but I work on “mommy” every day hoping that she’ll pick it up! I may actually be “buh” to her – I need to pay more attention to when she is using those sounds.
LOVES: Putting her arms up or out to the side to get picked up. Sliding around the kitchen floor trying to pick up Titan hairs and stick them in her mouth. Any time outdoors. Sitting in a highchair at restaurants. Getting squirted by the turtle in the bath tub.
OTHER: Last weekend, Lance and I went to a wedding half an hour away and Grandpa Steve and Grandma Beth babysat overnight. It was the first time that Lance and I both left her for the night at the same time. It was the perfect opportunity since it was less than 24 hours and in case of emergency, we were nearby. Everybody survived, although Bella’s cold made things a little harder than necessary on her babysitters!
November isn’t really going to slow down for us, although we are really enjoying a relaxing weekend at home right now. Bella is having so much fun these days, and it is so much fun to watch her develop. I’m looking forward to new movements, different babbling sounds, and maybe even some more hair in her month ahead!
