8 months!

It has been a long time since I’ve been here. I keep thinking about it and then can’t figure out what to share. That and I just feel like things have been really busy. Probably not a good sign for future blogging as our next two months are ridiculously jam packed with trips and events. But oh well. All of the busy-ness and adventures will at least help me feel like I have something to share.

But anyway, here is our 8 month old cutie-pie!

8 months

Bella is now solidly fitting into her six month clothing. I think she wore her last 3 month outfit a week or two ago and we’ve decided it is small enough to go under the crib with her other outgrown clothing. However, we are no wear near being ready for nine month clothes. I’m guessing she won’t fit into those until she is 9-10 months.

Bella 30-34I feel like the past month has been another real surge in development. Being able to sit in a highchair at a restaurant has been a major help for when we eat out. She is also really starting to get the hang of finger foods, which is a really nice way to occupy her while we make ourselves dinner!

What else is new?

FOOD: Our happy girl that literally ate everything that we put in her mouth, has now started to develop preferences. She refused her butternut squash for a few straight days at daycare and also at home. The first time that they mixed it with banana, she ate it, but the second time we tried that trick, she refused it. We’ll put that one away for a while (unfortunately we have over a pound of it frozen!). Just in the past 10 days she has tried some new finger foods. She had a little bit of pancake while we were out to breakfast, had some toast today, and recently added mango to her repertoire. She also had her first yogurt this week. At 8 months, I’d say her favorites are applesauce, banana, and I’m gonna bet that the yogurt and toast that she has recently started will soon be favorites as well.

SLEEP: Sleep continues to be hit or miss. Some days we are getting a full night of 7-7 sleep. Other nights, she is waking at 5 or 6, nursing for 15 minutes, and then going back to bed until we wake her (this morning that was 9 am!) She is still taking 2 naps a day for the most part. At daycare they are usually both 45 minutes to an hour long. At home she will sometimes take much longer naps…closer to two hours.

TEETH: Bella has four teeth now! Her bottom two are in, and she has two on the top, although it seems to be the ones that are next to the middle, not the middle. She went from having no teeth to four teeth very quickly.

MOVEMENT: Unlike most of her classmates, Bella is not crawling or pulling up. It is difficult that the others her age seem to be very quick to pick things up, which makes her timeline seem further behind than it probably is. She did wake up in her crib on her tummy, twice this week, so at least she is improving in the rolling department. I do think that crawling may come soon. She can fully spin around while sitting now, and walks pretty far forward with her hands trying to reach things. It’d be nice if she’d crawl just so she can keep up with the other babies in her class, although I’ll probably regret that statement once she is tearing apart our house.

PLAYTIME: It is really interesting how some things absolutely crack her up, but after a few days, she is ready for something new to amuse her. While I was out of town a few weeks ago for work, daddy invented the game “timber”, where he or she knocks down a bunch of blocks and she busts out laughing. She still enjoys the game, but it doesn’t make her laugh hard anymore. Right now she is loving raspberries and big kisses on her cheeks.

How about a few more random pictures from the month of August? I know those are everyone’s least favorite part of these posts.

I know that life will continue to get more and more fun for Bella every month now. And fun for us as parents too as we get to watch her learn and enjoy.
